I wonder whether we would have better laws, if more people knitted while in the legislature?

I have heard rumors of studies that show, attention seems to improve for many people, if they are doing something with their hands while listening.

Currently listening to USA Senate proceedings.

... if David Graeber and Dave Ramsey got together for a heart to heart?

We could call it: A meeting of the Davids.

Maybe it would even be nice, if they did it in a circle process context, rather than an interview. Who else would be part of that circle?

There is an experiment underway, whether a general strike would be helpful in the USA

My reflex reaction seems to be: this will be seen as left wing politics, and that might already trigger people to dismiss or critique it.

My NVC mind thinks: to the extent that a strike is received as a demand, fighting might be a natural reaction.

What is a general strike that is inviting, rather than looking for the enemy in the other?

Where is the part in me, that I can change? Where are my friends, that want to play this game with me?

... where governments don't send spies to figure out how to build more destructive nuclear weapons,

but rather, communities invite each other to come and have circle conversations, about how to better address the harms and conflicts, to share ideas about how to live well together.

... what parts of myself I censor?

... what is safe to say here?

... will the important conversations be had in time?

... what is the need that is current?

Scepticism toward the need to suffer

      gabkdlly • 15 January, 2025 • 3 visibility

My brother and I once talked about: whether the meaning of life was just to suffer.

The yogic tradition teaches that "all life is suffering", and that the problems don't come in seeking pleasure, but rather in getting stuck in a local maximum. That, you actually enjoy good things more as you continue to grow in skill. That you get off on helping others achieve their dreams.

Or, anyway, that is my understanding of it right now.
