Our users may register with us, granting them an account compatible with the federated XMPP network at no cost. Registered users may close their account at any time. Both registration and further or general use of the services in any form are bound to agreement with these terms. Continued use is to be interpreted as acceptance. Users not agreeing to our terms must refrain from using our services in any way. Terms may, and likely will, be subject to change as the service evolves and the user base grows. Changes will be reflected in this very same document and announced on the official support channel. Activities considered illegal under Swedish or German law, or otherwise considered contra bonos mores, are strictly forbidden. Operates hold the right to terminate accounts or the access to any of our services for any reason at any time with or without prior contact to affected users or accounts. Evading described measures will lead to immediate further actions. -= Privacy =- Guaranteeing the privacy of our users is one of our core values. We only collect data absolutely needed to provide the users with their chosen functions, for as long as it is necessary to do so. Note: End-to-end or otherwise considered encrypted content, by choice of the users involved or otherwise, are only processed and stored in that form in mentioned below. Upon registration, we collect: – The user's chosen name, until that account is terminated and a retention period has passed, to avoid impersonification – The registering party's IP address – The client software used by the registering party, possibly including a client fingerprint if provided – The chosen password, until changed or the corresponding account is terminated Should a user choose to opt into message archiving ("MAM"): – Messages or content that would generally be displayed as messages in the user's client software, from and to the user, for our archiving storage duration Should a user choose to send files via our service a.k.a media upload: – The exchanged data itself – Associated metadata, such as file names and type, if provided by the user or the user's software – The time the upload was performed or requested – In an obfuscated way – For the file retention period (currently 7 days) NOTE: does not apply for direct client-to-client file transfer! Should a user choose to use our web and blogging client on our main website: – Messages from and to your contacts or content that would otherwise be displayed as messages in common client software in an encrypted or unencrypted manner of the user's choosing for a very short period of time – The user's profile banner, if set – The user's posts or postings, which may include media, URLs, drawings et ceteraof the user's choice – Comments or "heart" reactions the user makes on their own or other user's posts – Communities or subscriptions to communities – Data of commonly acknowledged minor significance, that would usually pass through a common XMPP client software to ensure base functionality – Until the user opts out of our web and blogging client via the "Leave this instance" menu point NOTE: this does not further affect the user's account or data otherwise stored and mentioned here Should a user engage in chatrooms that are provided by us: – Full XMPP account names of all participants – Messages or content generally displayed as messages in common software including status changes up to 20 messages or for up to the duration of enabled "MAM" archiving if the chatroom has this functionality enabled – Avatars of participants, if provided – Status messages of participants, if provided – The chatroom's avatar, if set – The chatroom's name, subject and description, as well as additional properties – Affiliations of users native or foreign to the chatroom, such as permissions or bans – Bookmarked chatrooms until the bookmark is removed Should a user set up a virtual contact file ("vCard") using XMPP client software: – Name, Addresses, E-Mail, date of birth, nick names, avatars, personal web sites, personal description ("about"), country of residence – Until that property was either deleted or modified by the user or otherwise, or the user account has been terminated Should a user choose to report another user to the operators, and/or choose to block a certain user, the full user address will be stored until the user removes the blockage. Should a user receive a message while being offline or otherwise unavailable to the service or network, the received message will be stored until the user becomes available again and is then delivered.
