resulting in a plethora of new titles for people who are understood to be allowed to tell other people what to do or think or say. There is a German word for these kinds of roles: weisungsberechtigt. It seems that these titles are often chosen and massaged, to avoid the kingly connotations.

( The idea that kings are still around, but we call them different, I think I got from Dubrovsky and Graeber, in their fun book on kings. )

is pretty nice for collecting and cultivating lists. They are stored as Markdown files, which live in my Nextcloud filesystem tree. In theory, they could be fed through the Markdown to HTML conversion tool of your choice, for upload to your static-site host of choice. In practice, you would want to make sure that NONE of your notes contain sensitive information.

      Sometimes I write drafts here,

and let them lie fallow, until later when I have a new idea about what to post, and then I don't really have any other reasonable option, other than to publish the fallow draft immediately, any wants for changes still be damned.

The fact that #movim encourages me to act like this, might be a #bug.

I guess I could write how ever many drafts I want, and just not publish them? I guess this is what the "Publish this article publically" toggle on the publish page is for?

Neocities for web-hosting that is focused on HTML

    neocities.org

They have a pretty nice HTML editor, and friendly tutorials. It does seem to be upsellware, but perhaps they only charge for the features that cost them extra. Neocities seems to be a pretty good option if you want to edit your own HTML in the browser, with your option of #emacs , #vim , or #vscode style keybindings. They do validate your HTML, but they do not provide a formatter.

Can I make different paragraphs ...

... by separating them with a blank line?

    #test

Edit: It seems, the answer is: yes.

I guess this is because Movim follows the Markdown specification for posts.

Seems to be missing functionality. #movim #bugreport Update: Since I can subscribe to my blog via an ATOM feed, I can have my posts here backed up automatically in my feed reader. This may be enough for my purposes.

I would like to take a train from Tierra del Fuego to South Africa

Seems physically and economically possible, though would require building out a lot of rail. The politics of it seems to be the bottle neck. #rail #future #politics #travel #engineering

    • Bering Strait crossing

A Bering Strait crossing is a hypothetical bridge or tunnel that would span the relatively narrow and shallow Bering Strait between the Chukotka Peninsula in Russia and the Seward Peninsula in the U.S. state of Alaska. The crossing would provide a connection linking the Americas and Afro-Eurasia. With the two Diomede Islands between the peninsulas, the Bering Strait could be spanned by a bridge or tunnel. There have been several proposals for a Bering Strait crossing made by various individuals and media outlets. The names used for them include "The Intercontinental Peace Bridge" and "Eurasia–America Transport Link". Tunnel names have included "TKM–World Link", "AmerAsian Peace Tunnel" and InterBering. In April 2007, Russian government officials told the press that the Russian government would back a US$65 billion plan by a consortium of companies to build a Bering Strait tunnel.
